VIVIEN KABAR — ARTIST, AUTHOR & CREATOR OF THE LIVING ARCHIVE
Vivien Kabar is a Hungarian-born, Vienna-based visual artist working primarily in oil on canvas. Her paintings move between contemporary realism, Pop Art, and expressive figuration, investigating identity, power, perception, vulnerability, and the often invisible structures that shape our society.
Recurring themes include social injustice, violence, manipulation, and the contradictions between appearances and reality. Her approach ranges from playful, seductive imagery to unsettling and uncompromising confrontation, turning the tension between these extremes into an artistic language of its own.
Her artistic and cultural work has received recognition for its engagement with complex social issues, particularly through projects addressing violence and social responsibility. During her early years in Vienna, she founded Kunst gegen Gewalt (Art Against Violence), reflecting her belief in art as a means of confronting difficult realities and challenging established perceptions.
Alongside her visual art, Kabar’s creative practice encompasses writing, music, invention, and technological experimentation. Rather than separate disciplines, these pursuits form interconnected expressions of an ongoing investigation into how ideas can take shape across different media.
For Kabar, painting is not simply a means of representation. It is a way of making visible what might otherwise remain unseen.
THE LIVING ARCHIVE
THE LIVING ARCHIVE is an evolving artistic universe conceived by Vivien Kabar, where original paintings, human experience, philosophy, and technological experimentation become part of an interconnected narrative.
Each painting carries a story that extends far beyond its surface.
But the archive itself is also an experiment in creation.
Developed through an ongoing human–AI collaboration, it explores how artistic thinking can shape digital environments, new forms of storytelling, and technological innovation.
Beyond vivienkabar.art, this exploration extends to ECHO Art Archive (opens in a new tab), one of Kabar’s own software developments, born out of the challenges she encountered in her artistic practice and currently in private beta.
And then there is The Diary of a Mutant — an ongoing dialogue between the artist and an AI presence called Echo, presented through a neo-noir and cyberpunk visual language and grounded in real conversations about art, identity, philosophy, and the absurdities of existence.
No fiction required. Reality is already sufficiently absurd.
THE LIVING ARCHIVE is not a conventional portfolio. It is an evolving space where art, thought, and technology continue to intersect — and where the story is still being written.
